Fly fishing has been around for thousands of years if it’s true that the ancient Macedonians practiced fishing with wet flies. It’s a safe bet they didn’t have the variety of fly boxes we do. Regardless of what kind of fly fishing you do, you have to have a place to keep your flies. When I started fly fishing as a teen, I was already a fan of fishing for catfish, which for our family was sitting in one place with our lines out. It didn’t take long to find out it wasn’t productive to walk back to my tackle box every time I lost a fly. I ordered my first fly box out of a catalog and since I was tying my own flies as a hobby, it wasn’t long before I needed more boxes for my ever growing assortment.
